I appreciate everyone’s feedback on my recent posting re: problems with Bosch Tools. What I gathered from most responses is that Bosch puts out a quality product and that maybe I just had a bit of bad luck with my 14v cordless drill and the Power Box.
I contacted Bosch cust service and they could not have been more helpful. With the drill, they overnighted me a new unit and paid for the return shipment of the broken one. Done in one day! (I can’t go without my drill because of work, even if it is not working 100%).
Regarding the Power Box, the rep admitted that the original design had some problems with radio reception (I couldn’t get a station broadcast less than five miles away) and that if you left a battery in the charger after you turned off the power, it would drain the battery. She said that both these problems had been adressed in the updated version. They are shipping me a new unit and will pay for return shipment of the original.
All in all, they stood behind their product and provided great customer service. I just hope that my experience with the drill and the Power Box was an isolated instance and that my future purchases of Bosch tools are a little more trouble free.
Thanks again to all of you that provided feedback.

I was following this thread
and I for one appreciate the follow up,
as many here don't take the time to do
what you did.
thanks
Sounds like it does not get any better than that (except maybe for a product never breaking, doing everything in the world, and costing next to nothing). Thanks for sharing.
Wow couldn't have scripted a better add if I tried.
Thanks for the update.
I also had a reception Problem with my Bosch radio. The cd player and power outlets were awesome, but my buddy's Dewalt radio blew the Bosch away in reception. I called Bosch and they are sending me a brand new radio with the updated external antenna for free. I just put my old one in the supplied box and ship it back to them, they are paying for all shipping.
Doc
I've got the one with the external antenna and it works better with the antenna disconnected which is still not very good. The cd player also does not want to play home made cd's.Scissors cut paper. Rock breaks scissors. Paper wraps rock.
By external attenna do you mean an old standard looking rabbit ear sticking out somewhere?

It's a piece of rubber string with threads on one end ( to connect to the box ) and velcro ( to hang it ) on the other.Scissors cut paper. Rock breaks scissors. Paper wraps rock.

Maybe it dosent like your choice of music on the home made cds;-)
Yeah, that's more than likely the problem.Scissors cut paper. Rock breaks scissors. Paper wraps rock.
My Bosch Rep, Dan, is my favorite! About a month ago, I had sold a friend the 18v. kit and the recip failed.
My rep made a 2 1/2 hour trip up here to bring him a new one, personally.
When Dan came by last week, he brought me a handful of handsome Bosch hats!
The Bosch radio is the worst of the bunch, followed by the Dewalt.
Milwalkee's sounds the best!

If your radio is getting bad reception, do you have the newer model with the external antenna? My original one didn't. When I found out that Bosch re-desined the Power Box with an external antenna (realizing they had a problem) I called them and they gladly replaced mine with a newer model.
We finally got the one with the external anntenae in, but it doesn't seem to work any better than it did before.
Well, that and the total absense of bass...
It is still useful as a charger and provides additional plugs....
I found that the external antenna made all the difference in the world! You are right about the absence of bass though. I was on a job the other day with an electrician sub and he had a Milwalkee unit that boomed compared to the Bosch. In all though...I am happy with it now.
darcy,
Do you have the new antenna model powerbox and the old model there for a side by side comparison?

WOW!!! What a Ride!
You saying you like Howard Stern?"Live Free, not Die"
Howard isn't on XM.
He will be moving to Sirius Satellite Radio at the end of the year. At least that's the plan for now.
What the HECK was I thinking?
I was being facetious with the 'x'm radio comment.
Didn't know what xm radio is.
Still don't.
be dumb"Live Free, not Die"
De nada.
Xm is one of only two satellite radio providers in the US.Some folks think satellite radio is the way of the future.
A lot of folks use 'xm' to describe satellite radio in general, like using 'kleenex' for all facial tissues.

Intereesting............
My 12V had the same issue....was fine, then poof! smoke! I called their Provantage number (I was preregistered) right away, and I had a new drill, the next day. The FedEx guy waited while I swapped the old into the new ones box, and off it went. Done. Bosch has earned my respect over the years for top grade stuff....but I gained respect after that incident.
I wish Dewalt was so attentive to my constant issues with their compressor.....
I will call about my box, which I love. FM might be nice once in awhile....when I cant get my Sirius satelite dish outside for the day...
Thnakd for the heads up!
