The local Mack truck Dealer has a cherry E-250 with 5000 miles for $14,998
anyone have any thing good or bad to say about these??
I think it has the 4.6 liter V-8 which is what my f-150 has.
I tow my tool trailer and that engine isn’t exactly a powerhouse.
I’m assuming that the rest of the drive train and suspension will handle big loads better but you all know about ASSuming…
any place on the interweb I can go for more feedback??
Thanx in advance

it a FORD....
an FORD is an acronym...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
5,000 miles and priced at $15,000? I paid $9,000 four years ago for a then 5-year old e250 V6 with 48,000 miles.
There are two flavors of E250; V6 with bigger brakes and wheels and a slightly higher weight capacity than the half ton e150, but not true 3/4 ton; and V8 version with true 3/4 ton suspension.
The only work I've done on mine (89,000 miles now) is a fuel pump, brakes and tires.
Bought DW (sales rep) a similar E150 that she's put 40k miles on with one repair (mass air-flow sensor), now at 66k. She likes it. Oh, there was also a front-end alignment, but you probably don't have a driveway like ours.
I was disappointed not to be able to buy another Dodge van. I got her retired one, with the odometer stuck at 202k for the last 7 yrs. The Dodge is a heavier, better-feeling truck, but the Ford's working. Chevy I didn't consider. Sprinter's too tall.
The Ford was off a lease to somebody who was hauling drywall, lots of drywall. Drivetrain didn't apparently suffer. Tow capacity I know nothing about.
If we were looking for a 3/4 ton and found that one, I'd jump. Would you not do better with a cube van? Was great when I was building custom furniture and hauling machinery, 3/4 ton Dodge.
PAHS works. Bury it.
Electrician friend of mine has an E150 that's overloaded in my opinion. Mass air sensor and smoked the trans @ 110k. He also has had to replace 1 of the side cargo door hinges a couple times. However he's very tough on it and he's constantly in and out of those side doors sometimes. I don't think you can simply bolt on a new hinge with a Chevy. Someone else may chime in, but on my truck the hinge is spot welded. I personally think the Ford vans are pretty tough considering what's available.

Offer them $ 12,000
I was oot and aboot, so I stopped in and got the VIN off of the 2 ford vans they have on the lotone is : 2007 2,600 miles E250 superduty with 4.6l v-8 $16498one is 2006 5400 miles E250 with 4.6l v-8 $14998if the 4.6 liter engine means it has lighter suspension is it going to hold up towing my 6x12 tool trailer.I don't think my F150 w/ 4.6l has the balls it should have for towing.. meant to post to all

With Dodge out of the van business other than the sprinter. You have only two choices the Ford and Chevrolet. Having driven the 15 passenger versions hauling people I found the GMC products the best, Ford second only on ease of entry and then Dodge a better hauler but hard to get in and out of the driver door is your a big guy.
Forgot about the tool trailer. Doubt you'll be happy with the 4.6 if the van is loaded
and you're pulling the trailer. My buddy's van moans just being loaded without pulling
anything. Guess it's a compromise, price over huevos under the hood.

I'm thinking that is the reason why they got 2 pristine vans sitting on their lot..I'm resigned too the fact that a good construction truck isn't gonna get good milage.but it's gotta have the nuts to do the job..
