Framing considerations for whirlpool Tub
To support a sizeable whirlpool tub in a second floor bath (at front wall of house) is doubling of floor joists under tub sufficient? What additional framing can I do to be sure? When do you determine you need support posts/partitions to 1st floor & basement underneath??
…would love to discuss framing guidelines for this…

Whirlpool tubs do not require any more framing than a soaker tub of equal size.
A jetted/whirlpool tub has a pump & some extra piping, which the added weight is negligible.

8 lbs per gallon of water plus your live load. Check your span charts. Or, do what we sometimes do.......overbuild. A few extra joist is a drop in the proverbial bucket compared to a sagging floor with a built-in whirlpool over top.
