>>>Clipped or round head?
Do a search; there's plenty on this. Mostly depends on local approval.

Clipped or round head?
either...But I've heard thatsome local codes won't allow clipped heads.

Wire is good, unless you shoot yourself - the wire still atatched to the nail acts as a barb on a fish hook causing the doctor to swear and curse as he fights to pull the nail out of the flesh in your thigh. best not to shoot yourself - or anyone else!
Plastic I seem to recall somtimes spits out little bits of the plastic that can hit you in the face.
Paper..don't let you nails get wet...they fall apart....most annoying.
Best buy in the used area?
look for generic brands. exmaple : where I live, box stick nails for my Bostich guns are $10 cheaper going generic ....but make sure the degrees match what you use on your gun.

Does it really happen enough to warn people against that type? Thanks,Scott.Always remember those first immortal words that Adam said to Eve, “You’d better stand back, I don’t know how big this thing’s going to get.â€

wasn't really a warning not to use those type of nails...more of a factual statement to warn what will happen if you do get shot. I use wire nail guns and have no desire to change. personally I don't want to get shot by any type of nail.
But, I was there at the hospital helping to hold down one of my apprentices as the Doctor was cursing because the nail would not come out of his thigh. he couldn't understand why it didn't just pull out.....then after he finally got it out we all saw the wire that had been holding the nail in the meat of his leg. the nail had gone all 3" in and had just missed the bone. even with the freezing my guy was in agony as the nail was wreched from his leg. >>>then after he finally got it out we all saw the wire that had been holding the nail in the meat of his leg. That is nasty; I see what you mean; poor guy. Just like chainsaws, I think the best approach to nailers is to take all possible precautions.Scott.Always remember those first immortal words that Adam said to Eve, “You’d better stand back, I don’t know how big this thing’s going to get.â€
You don't want the shrapnel from plastic collated on roof sheathing. Coils don't have that problem.
Round heads are preferred some places ( even mandatory).
Hitachi and MAX are the two I would be looking at. Even tho' I own a Bostitch stick framer, I like my Max coil sider enough to get it a big brother.
