I am looking for something nice looking to put on the non-opening side of a set of french doors to lock it in to place. I have seen chain pull type, but I am looking for something more solid. I have antique burnished brass knobs and the doors are dark oak.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You need slide bolts in the doors edge.usaeally you hide the slide bolts and match the door knobs on the active door with dummy knobs on the other door. If your into face mount hardware.there is something called a chromb bolt.Im sure it spelled different.very decrotive.
Cremone bolt
you beat me to it...

Are you talking abut cremone bolts?
You can also use regular surface mount sliders. I'm sure Baldwin or Lee Valley has some that are fairly attractive, and would match the existing finish.

These work well.

I was actually thinking of surface mount slide bolts like the ones here:http://www.rejuvenation.com/fixshow5153/templates/selection.phtmlBut now I am definitely leaning towards cremone bolts, which I had seen before but never knew what they were called. Thanks for the info.
I think the name of the place is Van Dyke Restorations. They seem to have alot of that type of hardware.
Family.....They're always there when they need you.
These guys have a lot of nice options available in a lot of finishes. Call them to send you a catalog.

Frankly I find Crown City excessively expensive and with poor customer service.
