We are installing a french drain.
Do the sections of the pipe that are not perforated, and therefore just carrying water need to be surrounded by pea gravel, or can we just put earth/soil around them.
Is there a general size for a ( I can’t remember the correct term) “dry hole-dry well”. This is the hole we are digging that the french drain will end up in. You fill it with gravel.
Thanks

They don't need the gravel.

Big enough. Keep in mind that this "dry well" needs to be in an area that's significantly less wet than the one you're draining, or all your work will be wasted. Size depends on how quickly the soil can absorb the water. Exiting the pipe "to daylight" is better if you can manage it.
