freud sawblades for mitersaws 10″ and 12
i need a 10″ blade for my 10″ makita mitersaw(not a slider) to cut a lot of oakmouldings. also need a 12″ blade for my makita slider. i like freud, not a big fan of dewalt. which blades do you use? and does cutting plywood strips on your mitersaw dull the blade faster?

I like this blade:

Glass smooth cuts for a good price.
Tenryu blades are very good for the money too.
Freud has some new chromed thin-kerf blades on the market. I bought a 10" for my portable TS. They cut nasty tough stock like butter, glass smooth finish.
Definitely worth the dough.

I believe I bought the same blade as you mentioned. It is a Freud Avanti. Purchased a 12" for my miter saw, and a 10" for my table saw. Picked them up at Lowe's.
Unless you were to really push it hard, the cut is nearly glass smooth.
I cut some dowel rods on my miter saw for a wine cabinet, and I did not need to sand the end of them before they were stained.
Nice!

All I know is my site saw has more than enough ponies to rip through KD 4x spruce without stalling...but with the triple-chip blade I had on it before, I hadda use a bit of muscle and the saw would bitch and groan. Yeah, I know; a triple-chip blade is not ideal for ripping, but when I switched to that Freud chromed blade all of a sudden it felt like I was cutting balsa or red cedar or something. Wholey Cats! (Of course, I dunno yet how that blade will stand up to mdf or melamine....)

I only use a slider. I like the negative hook LU91 series. One will often last through a whole house trim job before needing sharpening. Plywood is hard on blades but so are some solid wood species.

Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
I'm not a fan of Freud blades, prefer Forrest.

Believe it or not I have a 12" 98 tooth carbide blade (or something like that) from Harbor Freight cost about 25.00 when I need to have it sharpened I buy a new one. They have a 10".
It cuts so smooth the end grain needs no sanding.
I save the freud's for the table saw in the shop. Tools banging about in the truck with the miter saw something is sure to hit a 75.00 dollar blade at some point knocking teeth off.

Another vote for Freud Avanti.
Have it in my 12" DCMS. Also have one in 10" table saw.
Qualifier: I allow the saw to come to full speed before starting and do not rush the cuts. I don't think any blade cuts very smoothly when forced / rushed. Smaller the stock, the slower the cut - example - I advance through 3-1/2" case faster than through 1/2" quarter round.
No experience with this blade in a slider.
Plywood will dull blades a little faster - it seems to be the glue that tears them up.
