Need to replace front entrance door. Nothing fancy, just a good solid door. If possible a dead bolt would be a good option. Is one brand better than another? Anderson, Therma-tru etc? It does have to be a door for cold climate. Thank You!

There have been discussions on this in the past so you might play around with the search feature.
I remember some people have had problems with call backs on therma true due to warping. I haven't had that experience but I've only installed a half dozen. I can say that the fiberglass doors are a little trickier to get a good paint job (they need to be really cleaned well with paint etch or other surface cleaner that will get any debris out of the grain texture). The last couple I took to my local paint supplier and he did them in his shop and they turned out well and didn't cost that much.
I've put in quite a few steel doors and, again, have had no problems. They, too, should be painted first.

I don't like steel doors. They seem like a good idea but get dinged, creased, and dented like an automobile body. After a few years they look bad, and if the jamb is still wood they aren't any more burgler resistant than a wood door.
The fiberglass doors I've seen look good. Even though I have no experience with them, I'd be tempted to take a close look at them for a paint grade door in a building I cared about.
