My kids elementary school PTSA holds a “make it – take it” fair every fall. Big success.
Not a big money maker but probably 3/4’s of the kids come and make something…usually 4 or 5 things. Being a carpenter and having a wife on the board I have made alot of things in the last 4 years. And I’m running out of ideas.
Anybody out there have an idea for an easy to make wooden kit that can be assembled by a child in 30 minutes or less? Utilitarian is OK, fun is better.
We’ve done birdhouses, boats, feeders. toolboxes, music boxes, cd cases, candle stick holders….I know that out there in the internet ether some suppressed wood artist is brimming over with groovin’ ideas….and I’d love to hear from you.

Couple of things come to mind:
1. A bat house. The kids might think it's cool - They're generlly not afraid of bats
2. Peterson Bluebird House. People really like bluebirds, and they're different than a typical square bird house.
3. Butterfly House
4. Paint your own yo-yo - Just furnish the kit and the string.
5. May not work, but our boys made a shelf for their pinewood derby cars at a scout meeting once.
6. Smoke Grinder. If you don't know what those are, I'll try to find a pic.
.
Good luck - Always appreciate efforts directed at helping kids in some way or other.

On my desk I have a work station....
You might want to post this question next door on Knots, also. I seem to recall seeing something like it there before, and you could potentially double the suggestion pool.
Be seeing you...
