Guys,
Many codes now require gable trusses to be supplimentally braced. Which is better?
1. Diagonal 2 x 4 members nailed to the inside face of the gable at the peak and then to the bottom chord of a truss say 6-8 feet away from the gable.
…or…
2. A 2 x 4 nailed perpendicular to the upright posts of the gable truss much like a strongback is used on the stringers of a staircase.
Obviously both together would be the best but for time and materials sake, which single one would serve to be stronger?
Or is there even a better method?
Mike
