nice handsaws.
I have handsaw envy!

Looking forward to getting snowed in sometime this winter, and sharpening all those little teeth. <g>
Be sure to post that. I'd be interested............we used to sharpen and set our circ blades but that is a cinch compare to a handsaw.
First job I had in the field the boss had all the tools to do it and I've seen it done, just never paid much attention.
I'm afraid to send out my saws these days for fear that they will get "lost" or mangled. I have two Sandvic's (sp) that are only about 30 years old but they are stilled highly prized by me. I also have a few tag sale saws like yours, some are useable, some are doubtful.
I had a trusted sharpener from and old time hardware store, but that was years ago. He would wrap them in heavy kraft paper...........the real deal.[email protected]
I used to sharpen my own, bad eyes made me give it up. Good saw filers are very tough to find anymore it seems.
I had a prized Diston back saw I sent out to a recommended filer after the guy I used finally retired , and it came back looking like the filer used a dogs mouth as the guide for the sharpening. Ruined a great saw.
They can't get your Goat if you don't tell them where it is hidden.
My Dad had a couple of nice Diston's. Wish I had them today.
I'll bet a good guy could fix that saw up............just a problem finding him though.[email protected]
"Good saw filers are very tough to find anymore it seems. "And how. I've got a whole boatload of old saws I would just love to have resharpened but i can't find anyone who does it that well anymore. Who knows how to recut & set anymore? I know enough but just haven't done it. I need to find a good one.
I used to sharpen two-man crosscut saws for the USDA Forest Service (ran wilderness area trail crews so bucking logs out of the trail was non-motorized--no chainsaws). That was 20 years ago, and not as tedious as sharpening an 8 tpi Disston. Here is the link to the Crosscut Saw Manual:http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/fspubs/77712508/index.htm
That's some cool stuff. I took a few minutes to look at it. I will spend some more time there in the future.
When I was a little boy, I wanted to be a Forest Ranger. Seems like your job was right up my alley..............

Stopped at a lawn sale @ month ago. Stuff on blankets. Bought one blanket: 15 various size c-clamps (8"-2"). 4 Jorgensen 24" clamps. 1 24" bar clamp. 1 mastadon clamp. 1 DW dw screwgun. 1 makita hammerdrill. 1 heatgun. 2 handsaws. 1 framing sq. 3 circular sawblades. $60
Oh, btw did you want to take a look in the basement? Sure... it was as if i walked into my own life. Woodworking equipment everywhere. Had most of it already though. Picked up a GeeTech 12" planer, plus xtra blades, plus hand made stand w/drawer. $50
Are you sure you don't want the Grizzly dust collection system? Went back a week later to dismantle it and haul it away. $100 . Only problem its a 220 2hp motor, I've only got 110, so I will have to switchout with a 1.5hp 110 motor.

10" slicker trowel for $2
Union Tools "Lil'pal" mini shovel for $2
