The garage is not directly attached to the house. I will rarely be working out there in winter and it will not be kept heated. Any other benefits to insulating the space? It will only cost $650 to insulate it, but I’m thinking that money is better spent in the house itself.

Mark...You're not going to heat and use the garage...There's your own answer. No.

*Mark, don't be too quick to let AJ shut you down. If you want to insulate a space that YOU won't be using, I'll send you my address and you can insulate MY garage.
*Mark,If you are sheating the interior or finishing the interior in any way shape or form, yes consider insulating. Cheaper with the walls open. If you are leaving the walls open, you can insulate whenever the need arises.Gabe
*I'd agree with Gabe on this one. You're rarely using it this winter, but what about 5 years from now? 10 years? Those questions answer yours.
