I recently purchased a new clothes washer and dryer. The dryer is gas. I wanted the units placed with the washer on the left and the dryer on the right so as to make both doors swing out making it easier to unload the washer and load the dryer with the minimum amount of steps. The installer installed the units with the washer on the right and dryer on the left. The doors open towards each other making loading more awkward. When I asked, the installer said that the units could not be switched since they don’t make a flexible gas connect long enough to accommodate the move. Is this true? Seems like with todays technology, the length would not be as limited as in years past. Is there a code stating the max length of the gas connector? I would need about a 5 ft line. any ideas are welcome. thanks, bw

Just call the gas company and ask them they are always more then happy to help. Their is a code my sister had the same except her line stoped 1/3 from the ceiling. When see had her new dryer installed she was told it needed to come to the floor and the flex line needed to be much shorter. The old one was abbout 6 foot I think it was two put together even.
Could reversing the door help most are reversing. But in your case it may be the washer Huh? those you usually can't reverse.
While your flexable connector cable will have to be standard, you could extend the black pipe behind the new location.
