Converting fireplace back to wood burning (the previous owner added a gas line and the gas logs). Disconnected the logs and shut off the gas. The problem im facing is that the gas line runs through a pvc pipe.
Should i try to remove the pvc pipe before patching the hole w cement? Any other steps thoughts on converting back to wood burning?

i assume the pvc was to sleeve the hole for the black gas pipe? the yes... punch it out or cut it back a few inches (use an inside pvc cutter or a small drimel type tool) then patch... i'd use something like rocktite that expands as it cures/sets... but you want to get the pvc out of flames /heats way thats a fire you don't want to start

"use an inside pvc cutter"
