If you feel the bid is reasonable for you, you might get a great kitchen with quality work rather than the low bid man that everyone else is using. The 3 bid philosophy is just a safeguard, but some people cut off their nose.
Quality is little appreciated these days.

Thanks for the reply. My main concern is getting a Quaility job.
That being the case, I'd go with the highly recommended contractor that you've researched and found to be good. If you get 2 more bids you will have to do all that research all over again, and your good contractor may become unavailable during that time because somebody else snapped him up.
Generally, you get what you pay for.
Thats great to hear, there are plenty of us that want to do quality work, but not enough homeowners that find the value in paying for it.
Kitchen remodels done well are one of the highest added value returns you can make in your home. Good luck and thanks for the support.

Building is about relationships. Are you comfortable having this co in your home?
Many of the co.s who getr poor reviews, get them because they charged too little out of lack of experience, knowledge or hunger. The co.s getting top dollar and have good refs have usually figured this out.
Just a few thoughts.

If it were my money, I'd go with a builder that I was convinced did high quality work, even if the price were higher. The sting of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a bargain fades.
My thoughts precisely, I always tell my clients that they will get over the money, but have to look at the job forever.
To all uf you who replyed thanks for your help. I think I've made up my mind. Homedad
