Put in a Bullet Resistant window today and noticed a nice size surface scratch. I was wondering if there’s a way to buff such a thing out. Or what glass people do to take something like that out.
Any ideas?

Gunner: Yes - Car windshield fixin' folks do it all the time. I've seen them demonstrate at an international Fenestration show in Atlanta. Can't give you any names; sorry.

I use cerium oxide to remove scratches from glass.

Not to highjack the thread....just the irony of scratching "bullet resistant glass".
The ONLY time I can recall scratching a peice of glass was while using a brand new ice scraper on which the sticker clearly stated..."will not scratch glass". Had never occured to me that it was even possible to do so previously.
Sorry....just chuckling out loud. Hope you git some answers.

Its not a special club, but.....as of Monday, March 14, the Tavern folder will go behind an access wall. Yea It is kind of funny.
Most commercial glass shops carry a glass polishing liquid/paste that they will sell to the general public.
Buy some, use a buffing wheel attached to either an electric car polisher or a grinder (with the buffing wheel attachment), and follow the directions on the bottle/can.
Might take a couple of tries, but I have never NOT been able to get out surface scratches.

Thanks. Now I know there's hope. Those pieces are heavy, and I sure didn't want to have to change it out again.
I was wondering, if it is bullet proof glass the scratch might be in a treatment on the glass, regular practices, to take it out, might damage it more?
No it's a surface scratch. It's not uncommon to have them down in the glass on Bullet resistant. Then you have to change it out. We even had a customer one time that found a human hair.
If you can feel the scratch, you won't get it out, no matter how much buffing compound you use.
