I want to install sink disposal and two duplex outlets. I want them all to be gfci protected. I bought a leviton combination gfci switch and outlet. On the back of the combo it has line and load connections plus two leads sticking out for the switch. Can I insert one of the switch leads into the load side of combo for power and the other switch lead to the disposal (hot side) and tie in all of the white neutrals pigtailing off of the load side of the combo. I would do the same for the hot side of the other two duplex outlets (pigtailing off of the load side of the gfci) Does this sound right. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Terry

The switch side connection sounds right but one of those whites goes to the line side and the rest connect to the load side.
Be sure you get the "line" white and black to the incoming feed or it will not work.
gfci switch/outlet
I forgot to mention that the incoming neutral (from the power supply) will be connected into the line (white side) of the combo switch outlet. The remaining white wires wil be pigtailed from the (white) load side of the combo/switch. This will pickup the neutral from the disposal as well as the other remaining outlets. Seem ok to you? Thanks for your reply yesterday. This is the first chance I had to get back and check computer.
Thanks, Terry
Yes, you have the right idea -- anything downstream that needs protection must come off the LOAD side of the GFCI. The panel's LINE neutral ("Grounded conductor) must be on the LINE side, and everything else can pigtail.
But why do you want to protect the disposal? (A) It's starting capacitance can produce nuisance trips of the GFCI, and (B) if it's jammed up when you try to start it, you can smoke the GFCI (been there, done that).
Generally motor loads other than the typical coutertop appliances are not compatible with GFCIs.
gfci outlet/ switch
Sorry for no reply over the past week. Haven't checked the computer. Just now set down at the computer for over a week. The city inspector said I needed to put the disposal and outlet on a gfci if it was within 6 feet of the sink and it's within 2 feet. This was mom's house and it's empty. Been fixing things so I can get it up for sale. I went ahead and finished the wiring like I proposed doing and works fine.
Thanks,
Terry
