I was thinking of instead of traditional tiling for our new stand alone shower, using glass. I still plan on using cement backer board, then covering it with formica. Finally the glass would cover that. I plan on using tempered 1/8 inch glass. Any unforseen pit falls?

Right off the bat I can think of a few. How you gonna' attatch the glass to the wall? How you gonna' waterproof this? If you use metal rails, will they rust or corrode? How you gonna' prevent formation of black mold on the backside of the glass?
Have you considered removable panels where you can remove them for any anticipated maintenance?
*wow - hadn't thought about most of those. As for attaching I was planning on having them predrilled. I guess I have more homework. Thanks
*Make sure the edges are eased (I don't know if this is a natural part of tempering) but glass edges can be dangerous; I lifted a flap of skin once from the edge of a mirror tile which stood slightly proud.
