Anyone ever encounter vinyl fooring you are supposed to install with double sided tape? Sounds like…something that won’t work very well–to me. This job has sure been a learning experience! Anyway, the guy I work for went ahead and glued it down using vinyl sheet flooring adhesive. I hope that will work. Please, please, somebody say it’ll be okay!

I used an Armstrong "cushioned" vinyl that was attached with the double side tape. But only at seams and doorways.
Otherwise it was left floating.
That was my first only vinyl floor and it worked out OK.
Did not try to glue it down.
Try contacting the manufacture. I know that Armstrong has a customer service hot line.
Thanks for the info--I would have looked into the situation a little more, but the guy I work for is impulsive and he has glued it, so, in a year (? more or less?) we may be called back to do a replacement. Only a small bathroom.
Too bad the guy you work for isn't a bit more inquisitive.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Did one several years ago that was only glued at the edges and the seams. Also saw one that was only stapled at the edge. Neither one have been a problem.
Doing anthing outside of the Armstrong specs will void ant manufacturer warrenty. If you can't show you did everything they demand, you eat the product and labor cost for rplacement. BTDT.

The Armstrong flooring your referring to is a DIY product. The double-faced tape is offered so homeowners or beginners won't have to try and adhere the floor covering.
Overall, the product can be glued but that backing they use for that product (usually fiberglass of some type) could have bonding issues with adhesive.
The double-faced tape is usually suggested under apppliances that emit heat, entrance ways & seams.
Currently, many manufacturers of vinyl floor covering offer the current installation options for their sheet vinyl floors: fully adhered with adhesive, perimeter adhered with adhesive & adhesive under any seams and perimeter stapled (obviously wood floors) with adhesive under any seams.
If anyone has any doubts about perimeter stapling vinyl floor covering remember that manufactured housing companies have been doing their vinyl installations that way for at least 20 years.
