ok ok Anybody got one of these that can give an opinion on the operation of the driver.
That's a good price with two bats delivered.
That's what I want to know. If they're really good then I'll jump on it.

recently bought the Makita 14 volt. They have a program through the end of june where you buy the impact driver and you get a 14 volt driver drill free. The Makita impact is awesome. I paid $209. for it.
At that price, I'd have gotten the Bosch instead of the Makita 14.4 kit I got. I couldn't pass up the Makita because of the free Mforce drill (paid $206, shipped).Love the impact, drill is handy to have, although didn't necessarily need. Initially bought the Panasonic kit - started to fall apart and break within a week - already discussed here previously. Can't beat the Makita, although I will mention that the led light does not actually line up to the bit - not as handy as Panasonics, which lit up the area being screwed. The led on the makita casts a shadow from the nose piece which prevents it from actually helping you out.Sounds dumb - but the light's are handy, and Makita's is not as much so.JT
I didn't have an alignment problem on mine. Where I was using it the light came in very handy and lit up the screw perfectly. I also found that Makita has upgraded the original tool that was offered. I believe the model number was 6932. Now they're shipping a mod # 6935 which is even more powerful.
I recently gotthe Rigid 14.4 impact and just used it to screw down Composite decking.
The driver got real hot and the battery ran down pretty quick.
Even got the Hi-output battery and it didn't hold up.
Also the Rigid has a built in system in the charger that won't lete the battery re-charge if it is warm at all.
I've had the 12v Bosch since December, it's awesome. I paid about $415 for the impact kit, 18v BT Drill kit, and 18v cordless circ saw(no batt).
That's a great price.

I don't have an impact driver so I figured it was a good entrypoint to see what all the hubbaloo is about.
I'm in, it's only money.
What's money got to do with anything anyhow?

I changed my mind. I need to start putting back my mad money for Riverfest. I've got an Hitachi 12 volt it does pretty good. So I'll stick with it for now. That is a heck of a deal though.
Oh well they come and they go.

The 12v Bosch Impact just arrived UPS.Pretty cool case design with the metal rod thru the hinge as opposed to just the thin molded plastic tab hinges on previous drill cases.Everything has it's designated place in there with a tight fit and extra space given for added stuff.
Gun feels right in the hand and not too heavy. Adjustable hanger for either side and pullout lock on the nose for the bits works well. Yep, two batteries.
If it works well as aforementioned I'll call it a good deal delivered to your door for $135.
Cheers

Are you sure there's TWO batteries???? :)
Actualy I just got done looking at the new generaton Panasonic impacts. $195.00 I think and they have a memory set on them for the clutch. Pretty tricky little tool. Next to them they had the old style 12 volt. $135.00 and I can have it in my hands now. I'm in a quqndry.
WWRD?

You got the 12volt pana drill you're happy with so there's the 12volt pana impact for the same price at $135.
Ya, that's a tuff one.
In one respect the pana's multiple battery availability if you stay with pana.
But the Bosch impact feels like a tool. The pana drill works well but has the toy feel to it, just a bit. (Just had it out to spend the battery life cause I'm thinking it'll be a while before it gets to see action.)
Don't know what to tell ya.
be buying both! Roar!
A person with no sense of humor about themselves is fullashid
Actualy the dilema is between the new generation Panasonic impact or the old style, sixty dollars cheaper.
The Pana drill is a light weight. I use it as a screw gun, it's very comfortable and I like it a lot but I won't use it for heavy work. It might take it but I've got a 14 and 24v for that.

I think I might have to get the digital Panasonic. This guy here has it for a hundred dollars less then anyone else. Even Amazon.

For the Panasonic or the Bosch?
A person with no sense of humor about themselves is fullashid
The Panasonic.

Ya know, I had a side by side comparison driving screws the other day and I like the drill driver better for screws. More control.
I'll be running some lags on Monday and I'm betting the impact will be the cats meow there.
A person with no sense of humor about themselves is fullashid
I wonder if that's why Panasonic is introducing the new digital? That seems to be one of their big points is control.
Shout out to Andy C. Namaste my friend.

Don't know. Had to apply a lot of pressure to keep the tip from jumping out when at the end of the drive. Could do it but with the drill driver the screw pretty much feeds itself.
A person with no sense of humor about themselves is fullashid
I haven't really had that problem with my Hitachi.

I can see if you wanted to drive a slew of screws quick where how deep wasn't really important. But if you want to just sink it another quarter turn I think it'd be rough with an impact.
heh,

Just had the opportunity to run the Pana 12volt drilldriver thru it's paces. Man, what a little hummer.
Glad I bought it.

That is a great price on the new digital Panasonic - Most places I have seen that one it has been $300
Where is it available at $195?
Thanks in advance,
Shoe
Edit - finished reading the thread - sux to read that deal is over - that was a good one. Probably just as well the deal is over though - I already have the first and second generation 12 volt Panasonic impact drivers - oh but the new digital- whew, that was a close one
Edited 6/17/2005 9:14 am ET by Shoeman
LOL A little part of me was glad I missed it too.
How do you like your Panasonic driver? I need to start sticking with one brand.
Shout out to Andy C. Namaste my friend.
http://www.hay98.com/
I have been very happy with the Panasonic impact drivers.
Can't beat the batteries. My first one (6506) came with 3 amp hour Nickle Metal batteries. Have had it about a year - works great. My newer one (7201) came with 3.5 amp hour batteries. Have only had that one for a few months, but, it works great as well. The belt hook and light come in handy as well.
As far as sticking with one brand - Panasonic is a little disappointing there in that they don't make a very large line of tools. I have been using a 12 volt drill and 12 volt circular saw for about 5 years and have been pleased with them. Now have the original saw, 4 drills, and 2 impact drivers. Just can't beat the power to weight ratio.
I ended up going with the Bosch 18 volt line to add a few other tools - recip saw, planer, jigsaw, hammer drill, circular saw. Battery life there has been disappointing.
For the drills and impact drivers - You will be happy with Panasonic.
Thanks.

Thanks, Razz. I had ordered that saw from Amazon on Thur. I was able to cancel that order, & I just ordered it from HDT. Thanks again.
Wonder why they're pushing the good deals on the impact?

Don't know but I'll sell mine for $135.
Used it once to drive 5 lags and a half dozen screws.

One of those tools I know I'll seldom use.
Got to reading enough of the raves here to make me open my wallet but there are more important tools to better match my needs.
Not enough individual control on screws.
'Course if I find a good deal on a 12volt Bosch drill/driver that will match the batteries...
A person with no sense of humor about themselves is fullashid
That's a nice deal, I'm going to have to see if the pocketbook could take that 470$ hit.
Dang that's a good deal!
I don't need the impact driver, I've already got 2 Makitas and a Panasonic.
Anyone want to go in on the deal? I'll buy the whole package and sell you the impact driver for $100.
Any takers?
oh yer hurtin me.
I was thinking about contacting them to see if they'd sell be the saw alone minus the $135.
be hurtin

Yeah, I'll do it. You're kind of local too so there wouldn't be any shipping hassles.
Razzman,
Thanks for the link. I was trying to decide on which SCMS to get. I was torn between Boscch, Makita, and Hitachi. That deal decided it for me. I just hope it's still really in stock...
Dave
Let us now how it goes and what you think of the impact driver.
Cheers
A person with no sense of humor about themselves is fullashid
I feel kinda dumb.
After ordering it, I realized that it won't fit in place of my dead Sears 10" CMS. My workspace is really that tight. Given that I don't actually *need* the capacity of a slider, I regretfully canceled the order. It's a sweet deal on a sweet tool, but I don't need it enough to make it worth the excessive effort of making it fit. Sigh....
AFAIK, the one I ordered was the last one. As of 4PM today, it was back up on the website as "1 in stock". Whoever gets it and can use it should be a happy camper.
Oh, well. It was a nice dream while it lasted.
Dave
Oh well, we've all been there. If it can be sold at that price once it can be sold at that price again.
A person with no sense of humor about themselves is fullashid
Looks like it was (sold at that price again). When I canceled, the webpage went from "out of stock" to 1 in stock. I saw today that it's back to out of stock. Somebody else knew a good deal when they saw it.
It all works out. I bought a 10" Hitachi CMS that will fit, and have $ left over for other goodies.
Have a good one!
Dave
How did you find HD Tools.net? Good guys, had open house the other day, watched the Bosch guy drive three lags into landscape timber endgrain then proceed to cut it off with circ saw. Cut was table saw smooth, blade was not new as he said he had done this many times with that blade and showed no damage. Some mean carbide!
Picked up a Bosch tapcon drill/driver set and holesaw set.
They had hotdogs, hamburgers, homemade slaw and chili. Great family operation.
Rumor is that they will have the dreaded Yellow tools soon.
IIRC, I found them last year, maybe thru a posting here? I've ordered a few things from them, & always been happy with the service. Say it ain't so about the yellow invasion! ;)
I don't think the Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita, and others will catch Yellow cooties at the store. They will probably isolate them. I have a truck full of Dewalt and am a happy customer. Starting to work toward Bosch though. DWife got the the 1590 jigsaw there for Christmas and I have a Bulldog and one a couple of sizes bigger.
When he cut the landscape timber did he cut thru the lags too?
YES! And the cut on past it was smooth as glass. I did not get to see what model blade it was but he said it would come with the circ saw he was trying to sell one guy. I helped them sell a plumber a Bulldog. The dummy was not wearing any eye protection though, Norm would have had a cow (or at least his risk mamagement folks would have).
I am pretty sure they were at least1/4 if not 5/16 and three spaced about 1/2" apart.
Looks like a good deal. All my bosch is 18v, though.

wow, great price.

Your Mom rocks.
Tried to order one.
They won't ship to Alaska.
Everybody else does. ( and boy do they usually hose use. ain't no such thing as free shipping).
Got the bosch impactor this week, used it 3 days installing alum. trim for tackboard at a school site. Works great- thanks for posting the tip. Saved alot of time not having to mess with cords.
