Wifey is redoing a small Baltimore rowhouse, two story 600 sq. feet total, ten foot exposure to the north, ten to the south, east and west shared walls. She wants me to pull up the floors and put down hydronic radiant heat running of a Polaris heater- overkill extreme. The three electric baseboards that were there do the job fine, but they’re “ugly” I am trying to avoid the hassle and expense of running rdh, and the hassle of dealing with her “aesthetic expertise” I know, I know, its a losing battle on both fronts. My question to the masses: Anyone have a line of electric baseboards that don’t look all gills and fins? I might be able to sell her on hydronic baseboards, like the Hydronic Alternatives’ RadiantPanel. Any thoughts or prayers, or should I start searching ebay for high end H2O heaters?
Thanks,
Steve

Dear Mr. Steve,
Don't know if you saw our piece on decorative radiator and baseboard covers, but it appeared in our November/December 2004 issue. Several companies manufacture these, which can be an easy solution to ugly baseboards. Here are links to the companies we featured that sell baseboard covers:
http://www.radiantwraps.com (Metal)
http://www.missionwoodworking.com (Mission)
http://www.woodenradiatorcabinet.com (Shaker-style)
If you click on the Resources link on our website, then click on "Utilities and Systems," you'll see a bunch of other companies listed that sell radiator covers--they might also sell baseboard covers.
I hope this helps!

Check out Runtal Radiators- european styling that looks great, also they have towel heaters for the bathroom.
not sure if you can use the fan heaters, but cadet has a fan model and all you see is a cover plate that looks just like a heat or return register cover, you can find them online at homdepot.com. By the way they can only be ordered online with home depot.
