Can anyone reccommend a good quality work short with a shorter inseam? My usual pants are Pointer brand carpenter jeans, but their shorts end just at my knee when I put them on in the morning which means they hang below as the day goes on which is really annoying. I’m thinking of the Blakladers but don’t know much about them. Any input on those or anything else is appreciated.

I suspect a lot of us have that picture saved....if a whole bunch of us posted it on the same day, it might be real peaceful here for a coupla weeks!

they are a light fabric but they are pretty tuff. As the day warms up you just zip off the legs. the cargo pockets are on the sides where I like them. I like 'em and I'm picky.

Long shorts are annoying and restrictive.
My advise is to wear a belt, and strap your tool belt on tight to keep them up and out of your way.
Not sure if I will ever get it right, but I will continue to roll that marble around my pea-brain until I figure it out.
Carhartt's, dude. They are the bomb. Triple stitched seams, side pockets, etc.

Riggs by Wrangler are great pants and shorts been undestrucable so far 2 yrs

I like my shorts to the knee or slighlty above - not up the thigh- maybe its a generational thing, but I find them to be the perfect length.
I have two of the pants and one of the shorts because thats all I could find locally, but I really recomend you try the pants (if the shorts are too long) their less than carharts and way, way, way better in my opnion, I wish they were as widely available as carharts

I agree -- i hate long shorts. Thankfully the shorter inseam (6" or so) is coming back into style and I've found several pair in the past year at Target.

I hate shorts that cover my knees, but I would be put in jail or shot if I wore those.
now that's a fine American doing her part to conserve natural resources (fabric) and the energy to mfg it.
I like the Duluth Trading Firehose pants and shorts, I cut the worn out pants down for shorts when the knees finally blow out. I'm tall so I can cut just below the cargo pockets and still have em down to my knees, but if you are 6' or under, I'd suggest just getting the preshorted shorts, and they are hemmed for a better look.

Carrhart does make their carpenter/work short in different inseam length.
I still have a pair from them called "tool shorts" that have a lot more pockets/holders for small tools--I wish they still made 'em!

I'm fourty pounds lighter then Tipifest. At one time I was sixty three pounds lighter. But four broken ribs and about five months of living on the road put a little back on. I'm working it back off again though.

When I was in Austin I applied for a job at some cabinet shop, mainly commercial stuff, boring stuff actually.
I went to the interview from work, had shorts on, they told me that I wouldn't be able to wear shorts out on job sites because I would get laughed at and it wouldn't be allowed by the GC.
I told them I was cool with the getting laughed at as long as I wasn't dying of heat like the rest of the idiots but the GC thing I probably couldn't overcome! I think hardhats were also a requirement.....I didn't take that job!

I can usually find shots at JCPenny's and a few other sporting good places that have 7" inseams. I cant stand the 9" and longer inseams, not all that long legged and I dont like the restriction that comes from the long shorts.
I know I'm not stylin but WTF.

I'm in shorts most of the summer, and I know what you mean about long ones....look like what we used to call clam diggers. Carhartts heavy duck are tough, but I like these better. Lightweight, no binding, a few pockets.
Used to make 'em in 7" inseam, changed that to 8 1/2" last year, not so bad, I actually like 'em better. Might give 'em a whirl.
