I am not complaining...glad to have the work. This will be a fun trim package to work with. This one will have some columns and a few arches, etc.
Looks like you got FAT!
It is the good stuff!
good luck on that there buddy ;)
there's no need to reinvent the wrench
What are you going to do with the other three days of the week?
I have another day of door hanging on the first floor, then I case the doors and windows for 3 days or so.Base will wait for the hardwood floors, and tile. Crown backing and crown will be take a few days too.
Is that for paint or stain?
Steve
Should be painted...with this painter it all gets installed, then primed and painted in place. No back priming this way, but it is nice for me to work with.
That looks like it will be a lot of fun. Poplar from the looks, but paint or stain? I'll get slammed for this I'm sure but I always liked the look of a good, clean paint job on most trim.
Speaking of fun, you know what isn't? Managing to run the knuckle of my index finger into a sanding disk on an angle grinder this afternoon while coping a joint... OUCH!!! So I got to get five stiches - my first, wasn't too pleased. This is interesting typing this right now...
Make us proud - and jealous - Bass. Have a good week.

Paint. I like it too. The painter on this job is the best around too. We both like to work together since neither of us gets to look good without the other doing first-rate work.Nick, Sorry to here about the mishap...never a good thing.I'll do my best (I'll be on this job for most of the month of May),Have a good day,Brian
Whatcha gonna do after lunch?
Looks like a good time, better if it was the dead of winter..it's getting real nice working outdoors.

It was a tough Winter here...I ran out of firewood early too (even though I bought an extra cord). It is a perfect Spring day here today. After the Winter we had...this sunny, warm weather, is a religious experience.
It could be worse...you could have a designer like me involved, and in that case every bit of that crown would have 3 build-ups.
I think I'm going to be run out of town for my next project because of that.....
Have fun..looks like a nice job!
The crown will be run in two courses in the Master Bedroom, both in and around a tray ceiling (if that makes sense). That will look almost built up.It is a good gig. Thanks,Bass
Pictures when you are done?
Sure.I am toying with different ideas on running that large crown around some bullnosed outside corners. I might try radiused crown with wire lath and plaster and a profiled knife, or several pieces of wood to make the turns. It will be interesting.
Cool. I'd like to see the wire lath and plaster deal. Cabinetmaker buddy of mine is experimenting with radius crown on some furniture. He has a place that will send him a round turning matching his profile and he 1/4's it.
I stole the idea over at JLC finish carp forum. Here are a couple of photos I lifted over there:
Nice!
That's a nice detail Bass. I missed it, are you using that on this job or just as a reference?Hey, I owe you a thank you by the way. I've been running that little DeWalt compressor that you recommended to me a few months back on pretty much all of my jobs and I love it. I can't outrun that thing. Talk about a lot of bang for the buck, I think I only paid $100 through Amazon. Thanks.Nick
I am pitching that detail for this job...I hope to be able to do it. I'll find out by next week sometime.Glad you like the compressor. I really like mine too. I run it pretty hard and it is holding up fine. That is a great price. I paid the "new model" price...and still think it was a good deal.
Designers like you are job security! Bring it on!!
Dude, get out there and finish that friggin' deck!
The builder asked yesterday, if I wanted to take on the deck. It would be a nice job, but I'm booked out 'til August already. I hate to turn down good work though.
Yeah, I can sure add up the install labor! However, I'm not as bad as I used to be when I free access to any kind of moulding that was out there.
This next project is my builder's own house, and he has an installer/trim carp that he's been paying a flat rate installation for on his previous houses, which I've warned him isn't really enough for what he now wants in future houses. I've always made sure my installers get paid by the piece; they make more on projects than I do!
You can bet the installer is going to have some extra charges on this house!
