Government incentives: How to save $$
I’ve read that there are many government programs, financial incentives aimed at promoting energy efficiency and other public concerns in home building and remodeling. Some are for solar applications, others are for adding insulation, etc.
I thought we could help each other out by sharing information about such programs.
It would sure help me to know what govt incentives are available, as I proceed with making decisions about methods and materials for the new home I’m planning to build later this year.

Most of the federal tax credits have expired.
But solar is available through 2008.

Do you know anything about state programs? Or how to research them effectively?
You can try a google on 'your state' energy rebatesAslo go to your state's energy department website. Also check with your utility companies..

I was reading in another forum that you must apply for most of these incentives BEFORE making the upgrade, that they are not retroactive.
