Quoting on a job that requires a grab bar in a mobile home. Without opening up the walls, I’m guessing it’s built of 2×2’s at best.
Has anybody out there installed a grab bar in a mobile home?
– what technique / product(s) did you use?
– were you satisfied with the result?

Wow. We're living in a mobile home temporarily as we build our house so I know what you're talking about in regards to wall thickness.
Doesn't take much wind for the walls to start rattling.
The main concern I would think would be keeping the connection watertight. It's gonna move regardless (unless the person is six pounds or less) of how well it's attached to the wall.
The only way I'd feel safe about it would be if I could open up the wall & add reinforcement to it.

Or just bolt through the wall (with spacers) and attach about a 4x4 foot piece of plywood to the outside to actually carry the load.--------------

Why not do a floor mounted unit? You can get them from Bobrick and other manufactuers and then secure under the mobile home deck rather than through the wall.
Or there are units with 3-4 mounting points. Much more stable when anchorage is dicey.--------------
