I was told at one point – or maybe read it somewhere, possibly in a FHB article – that there is no comparison between Grace products (ie Ice and Water Shield) and the competitiion and that it should not be substituted. Is this true? I can’t get the Grace products where I am at and am wondering if a substitute of a product by Sandell Company would be just as good.

The roofer that I prefer to work with only uses Grace Ultra. This is because it is rated for high temperature. This is especially important for metal roof applications but can be important for flashings as well. I have had two bad experiences with Blu skin as a secondary flashing countering the copper roof to wall. Black gooey drips over the face of the copper and down onto the roofing. Ugly!!
I will always ask the question about how temperature affects any certain product. I am sure that the other manufactures also produce high temperature products. Grace also makes products not rated for high temperature. Just a word to help all be wise.
