My driveway is over 1000′ long and has about 2″ of fresh gravel spread with a truck. I’m getting tired of smoothing the stuff by hand. Any ideas of something I can pull behind a garden tractor (18 horse)? Has to be cheap and easy to come by. I’ve heard of an old bed frame with some concrete blocks inside.

A piece of chain link fence with some weight works

An 8' chunk of a steel i-beam works well.

Chain link fence with log across the rear (on top of the fence), or a set of matress springs seem to be the tradional methods around here.
Warning - using matress springs may qualify you for redneck status in some areas.

lol. Only if you pick it up and carry it back in the house.

Around here they call it '3/4 minus' or 'road mulch' which means it's 3/4" stone with a calculated amount of smaller agregates and fines. After a while it locks up real hard and is difficult to change, hence why I want to smooth it out now.
Thanks all,
Scott.

what size gravel is it?
around here it's customary to top off larger sized gravel with what they call "crusher run". It's a by product of mining gravel. It's small gravel with some fines in it. It fills in the voids of larger gravel and packs in to make a great road. It's about half the price of regular gravel as well.
