I HAVE A FRIEND WHO JUST BOUGHT THIS HOUSE. THE PROBLEM IS THESE GRANITE TILE COUNTER TOPS. EVERY TIME ANYTHING BESIDES WATER GETS ON THEM, THEY STAIN. WATER WILL ALSO LEAVE A MOISTURE MARK THAT WILL EVENTUALLY GO AWAY. THE BUILDER(WHO IS A JERK) SAID SHE NEEDED TO SEAL THEM. SO SHE CLEANED THEM AND SEALED THEM…..THEY ARE STILL STAINING!!! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.
THANKS

stone tech makes good sealers, i think you need to repeat the process 3 or 4 times ( directions are on the bottle) . that should do it.... now i think the installer usually takes care of this, but maybe not where you are.
Please do everyone a favor and TURN OFF THE CAPS.
Ok, got that out of my system. I'm no expert, but certain types of granite may be prone to staining no matter how much sealer you put on them. Also depends on the type of 'sealer'. You can get anything which calls itself a sealer, and then there is the expensive stuff. I have a can downstairs but can't recall the name. Maybe someone else can help me out here. The point is the real thing is significantly more expensive, so you should know by the price. I think HD & Lowes carry the stuff now. Like maybe $20-$30 for a pint? It's been a while.
Any water left standing on a polished surface will leave a water stain. You just don't notice it on cars since they are slanted and it all slides off. So I guess the thing to do in this case is wipe up the water.
I am definitely not an expert either, but what if you were at occasionally wax the countertops?
Wax is clear and should do no harm to the stone after it is sealed. It would make it more moisture repellent. It does add a level of maintenance that may not be acceptable in our "maintenance-free" times.
I have done many granite counters in large tile..All were dark granite. I havent ever had any stain. You sure it isnt marble we're talking about here? Kinda sounds like it as Ive had marble bathroom counters do exactly what youre describing. You sure its granite? Granite is a pretty hard dense stone.
Be well

Try posting to this board. Mario has a couple of files that can be downloaded on granite maintaince. Tell them the type of granite or at least the color.

are you sure the tile is granite?? I would get another opinion on the authenticity of the (granite).
