DIl wants granite tile on kitchen countertops.
Will tear off old tops (formica over particle board) and replace with 1.8 cm 13 ply baltic birch base with 3/8 cement board over that, then will set tile in Kerabond mixed with the Keralastic additive.
Problem is that counter top with the cooktop (induction) is 25-1/2″ deep. What to do for that 1-1/2″
a. 1-1/2″ wide piece of tile looks Cheesy?
b. use 1-1/2″ thick backsplash? – this leaves a grease ledge for dirt, not a good idea?
c. move the whole back wall 1-1/2″ forward?
d. Teak or apitong or oak or maple bullnose out the front? Cannot just cut the front edge back, only 3/8″ overlap of existing good maple counter fronts.
e. other ideas????

Do you have a water saw?
Cut the 12 x 12 to 8 1/2''
Use the off-cuts for the front edge and backsplash.
Hey hound be sure to get a blade for natural stone. I used cut up credit cards for spacers, unsanded grout and make your 1 1/2 cuts towards the back and I used granite tile for a back splash, It all blends in so you dont really notice the cuts on the rear tiles
