I’ve recently finished pouring my concrete shop floor.
The design is concrete squares approximately 4′ x 4′, there are 40 of them. I intentionally scored each slab with an edge trowel when finishing so now they look like giant concrete tiles. I never really worked out what to grout or caulk the grooves with. They are about ½” wide and ½” deep. I would like to paint the floor one color and grout the grooves another color.
I’m trying to get suggestions on how to proceed with the painting, what kind of paint to use and how soon to apply it (considering curing time). What to use as a grout that would be cheap and durable and how to apply it?

I went to Miracote's 2 day training program for cement toppings, coatings, staining, epoxies, and sealers last October. http://www.miracote.com
Your's sounds like the perfect application for staining. Stain the squares into different colored patterns, seal thoroughly. Then come back and grind out the joints and refill with a cementatious colored topping of your choice. Reseal.
You could stain templates into the patterns for locations of counters, machines, parking.
(Probably would have been better had you not put the joints in and simply saw cut later.)
And it's something that after practicing on your neighbor, you can do yourself.
I believe that offer training sessions somewhere in NJ also.
I'm guessing to hire someone to do this would run about $8 to 10 per sq ft.
