Hack work that will make you cringe
Saw this a couple of months ago in Cambridge and finally got a chance to take some pics. Kinda makes you shudder. Looks like a slum lord special.
Anybody got something worse, bring it on, lets see the pics.

Luv yur shutters.
Nice sawzall work. Good lookin vinyl job, too.
Ah, I see your misconception -- those aren't shutters, they're tachion wave deflectors.
There is NO WAY who ever did that thought it looked OK. How could you go home at the end of the day and know that you left the shutters looking like that.

I've seen almost as bad as those shutters. My neighbor put in a deck and what was supposed to be six treads and seven risers to the deck. The risers vary from three inches on the bottom tread to about five on the next, six on the after that etc.
When he sold the house he had me rip them out and replace them. The new owners had an inspector check the house out before closing, otherwise he would have left it the way it was.

How's about this for an example of the

It's for real, the left side has sunk about 2' to 2.5' -- I took it the other day in New Street [Built around 1570 -- God knows where Old Street was!] in the center of Worcester. There's another a bit further along where the second floor bows out into the middle of the road about 4' and sags down 3' but I couldn't get far enough away to take a photo 'cos the street's only about 12' wide.
As I said, a perfect example that hack work is nothing new.

Those shutters are classic. Some drunk must be laffing his a** off!

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!
Warning! Be cautious when taking any framing advice from me. There are some in here who think I'm a hackmeister...they might be right! Of course, they might be wrong too!

The one a couple months back with the porch columns was pretty harsh, too.
I bet he got a real bargain on those shutters and figured no one would notice.
I looked at the first pic (not noticing the bay), and thought I've seen worse. Then I saw the two pics of the bay. Wow. I love how the shutters were ripped in half. Classic. Not to mention the various sizes.
yeah...thats happened to me...
you go to the store, choose between the "pre washed" or the non "pre washed"
save a few bucks with the non...
put em up, they look fine...
but the first time you wash them, or it rains...POOF..they shrink right up...
what a shame...

What really hurts is when the left leg shrinks so much more than the other left leg.

Hello Charlie--Nice to see ya still around. I have been busy with my new son and since things have slowed down here in the cities I have a chance to get back online. Drop me a line if you get a chance --till then-Mike
hey good to see ya again mike...how's the new addition commin? all grown up and ready for college?
and your right...things seem to be slowing down the past few months..."knowledge without experience is just information." Mark Twain
Yeah, that's terrible, but how many houses have you seen with say 'craftsman style' windows, but have standard fake shutters tacked on next to them? Most homebuyers don't realize that there are complimentary products out there to match each style/shape of each window.
It's not as bad as your hack job pic, but it gives me the shudders everytime I see mismatched windows and shutters.
Looks good from my house....
About all this lacks is some mismatched shutters.
The first is at one end of the street. The second, just down the block. It's hard to tell if maybe the parts got delivered to the wrong address, or maybe the homowners had a couple extra dollars and just had to slap it on there. Beats me, but in this development they need to have everything including the paint color approved b/4 construction. Guess overall design doesn't come into the picture.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

I think they need some shutters. Maybe reinvent can find the guy to install them.

Li'l Abner done did dat!

I'm guessing it went something like this: Landlord tells his handyman to install shutters on house to "sex it up" a little. Handyman tells landlord "Ain't no way shutters are going to work on that house." Landlord says, "Don't give me static, just put shutters on there." Handyman says "OK".
Yeah sex it up like a $2 whore.
I'd like to get some of the sensayuma that guy was smokin!!
must be kikazz stuff!

I can't afford to be affordable anymore
And nothing but the FINEST sheets will do as window coverings! They complement the shutters.

Hey, I did that installation. I've sent the homeowners three separate invoices and still haven't been paid. Looks like I will not be paid for my ten minutes of labor. I'll have to write it off as "bad debt".
You din't get paid, cuz I came back and made em utta wood and hung em just like you did.I didn't get paid either.

Who remembers the driveways that looked like alpine slides? Real steep, and there were some charges that it was a joke and it was Photoshopped? Well, like those shutters those driveways were real. How do I know, well when I was in Arkansas to do a photo shoot with Gary Striegler he drove me to that development to show me they were real. He says that the homeowners there don't use their driveways much, they just park on the street. Those driveways are just outside of Fayetteville, Arkansas. If you ever find yourself there ask to see the Alpine Village.
