Hey everybody
I got asked to step in and help build a round deck on a current remodeling project. Its supposed to be a half round, about 10′ diameter. I’m figureing on needing some sort of lamination for the curved rim joist. Anyone here ever done this sort of thing? I’d appreciate any advice on this.
Thanks, Mike.

I had my local mill run PT 2 x 10's through the thickness planer to a thickness of 3/8" to 1/2". We bent and glued ( PL Premium) the laminations around the joist ends. Lots of clamps, lots of screws and lots of time. Material selection in the PT yellow pine is critical. Straight grain with few knots is key.
*Mike,Your underpinning doesn't have to be curved. It can run at angles and let your deck boards cantiliver over. We are rebuilding one that is sort of kidney shaped right now. The underpinning is straight, and the curve is cut only in the deck boards. Looks great.Ed. Williams
*10' is a pretty tight radius. We get the cedar mill to mill 1x10 in half. We then hose it down (yes) HOSE it down. Then bend the wet facia by standing it on end and hooking it under the beveled house siding over night. The next morning you can cut and fasten your new curved facia.
*If it is to be pressure treated...just use plywood in layers...the other ideas are fine too.;.near the stream soaking some cedar for a fellow breaktimer,aj
