Hello Everyone; Does anyone recall seeing in the pages of “Fine Homebuilding” an article about using a yankee style (half-round) gutter upside down as a top cap or vent for a roof detail. I am not sure but I thought I remembered seeing it before 1996?
I keep thinking about the detail and I can’t seem to find it in the archives or in the “Best of” CD (my copies of Fine Homebuilding only go back to #99). Anyone have any ideas? I don’t even know if the detail makes any sense but I would like to see it again so I can make a educated guess if it is even worth the effort of trying to copy.
Many Thanks;
Michael W.

I don't know the issue, but I remember the detail. They used double beaded half round gutter ( which is kind of hard to find) connected to 1/8" x 1" copper bar legs to elevate it above the ridge. Copper screen was installed in the resulting gap. Cool looking detail. I remember it because I've wanted to use it some where, but never have found the right application.
Thanks for the info, greencu. I found out last night that my brother-in-law has FHB issues dating to the early 90's, so I guess I'm in for a afternoon of research. I will let everyone know if I find anything.
