Have any of you ever used the handheld quarter round and shoe mold cutters? I know that one brand name is Sylvan and another is Lowe ( a german company).
A builder let me use his pair the other day to run quarter round in a new house and it made the job so much faster and easier.
I found the Sylvan on ebay but I was wondering if any of you guys know of another brand.

They are being discussed in the lion miter trimmer thread over at JLC if you're interested.
I think Lee Valley might have them, too.

vanderpooch.
You're right. LeeValley does have them. I got mine a few years ago on the recommendation of somebody I met here.
They work. I use them all the time on small mouldings.

Thanks guys. That is exactly what I am looking for.

Looks pretty cool..will it trim just a hair? Did you you use it with hardwood shoe? How was it at cutting miters? I hate running shoe, anything to make it easier<G>
Whoever it is I wish they'd cut it out but when they will I can only guess.
They say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy,
She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me.
I can't help it if I'm lucky.
It will trim just a hair. It made the job I did the other day very easy and fast. The only measurements I had to make were the wall to wall. Otherwise I just put the piece in place, mark it and cut it right there at the spot.
There is an ebay store called myustools. They sell the Sylvan brand with extra blades and the holster. It is called the Miter Jaws. I ordered one last night. Otherwise you can get it through Ram tools.

We have been using one for years in our custom picture framing. great for filigree moldings too.
I noticed they are also being sold at my concrete products supply company. Use them to cut chamfer strips for inside froms.
