I just tuned in to an episode of Hany Ma’am with Beverly DeJulio. Man was it painful to watch! They were making a daybed frame out of 2/4’s and drywall screws. She nearly impailed her arm several times while toenailing 3″ screws. Not a clamp in site. I can picture some poor housewife trying to make one by herself and running that screw into her arm! Then as a final joke I think I just saw a flash of a guy holding a screwgun in the camera frame! I bet that goes on a lot with all those home improvement shows. The hosts just don’t look like they have a clue sometimes. I guess at least she maybe inspires some women to try their hand at using tools. That can’t be all bad I suppose. I am also amazed at how these shows gloss over a fairly complicated project, skipping a zillion important steps, and then encourage Joe Homeowner that he can do it himself. It seems as though cranking out episodes crammed with advertising is more important than actually giving a guy enough real information to complete a project.

Well of course it is. They're TV producers after all. They don't give a rats tush about anything except getting viewers to watch. The flip side is I wonder what kind of TV show a contractor could make? :-?
haven't you ever watched the Piff'n'Andy show?

That's on PBS, right?
Don't have anything intelligent to add - But bringing up PBS made me think of this tag line:I'm perfectly happy being married to a man who thinks PBS is something women get once a month [Jill Taylor]
I haven't seen the show you mentioned, but I've seen the host in an earlier show. Many hosts are not highly skilled (though some are), but she is probably the worst of all I've seen. After seeing her show a few times, including one where she wired up a lamp backwards, I couldn't stand to watch anymore. She really does not belong on TV instructing folks how to do such work.
