Any suggestions on hanging kitchen cabinets on a cinder block wall?
There are no furring strips in this wall.
Are there anchors made for cinder block? Would regular tamp ins or Red Head concrete anchors work?
I have a Remington Power fastener, but I don’t think it would have enough holding power in cinder block.
Thanks for any help anyone could offer, Paddy

attach a cleat with tapcons hang cab to cleat
Take a look at Toggler's website: http://www.toggler.com/index.php
Wherever you hit a hollow, you could use their toggle bolts. I really like these bolts for their strength and ease of use. If you hit a web, you can use one of their solid wall anchors. I don't like using tapcons in block. I just don't feel like they have enough holding power in what is basically a weak material.
In addition to the anchors, I would suggest construction adhesive on the back of the cleat. It doesn't have enough holding power by itself, but it will minimize vibration that could, over time, loosen the anchors.
Thanks DonCanDo.
Sounds like a plan.
If you use 1/4" tap cons they will do a good job. If you are still nervous about it, squirt some epoxy in the hole first. Then I am not sure how you would ever get them out.
you can fasten strapping with toggle bolts, or even better use a hanging rail and toggle bolts ..

Isn't anyone going to tell him about Piffin screws?
I'd like to know, what's a piffin screw?
Piffin screw is a name given by Breaktime members to the simple drywall screw
as poster Piffin once carried on a conversation degrading the use of drywall screws in anything but for the designed purpose of securing drywall as the screws are too weak for substantial loads.
Use of drywall screws for hanging cabinets and such was spoke of disapproving and some took it to heart to start calling drywall screws 'Piffin' screws because of his comments and the name stuck.
(Least that is my recollection of the incident)
That's the dry historical context but one must become acquainted with Piffin himself, in order to fully appreciate the magnitude of the event and the subsequent implications for the building trades.
For example, there are T-Shirts dedicated to the lengendary Piffin Screws. I am one of the fortunate few to own several of them.
There also ritual observances, such as chants and guided meditations aimed at evoking the presence of the screw master himself. Fortunately for us, Piffen is never far from BT.
I've heard that the use of the term itself has made it to several jobsites where workers hearing the term for the first time get initiated to that inner knowledge...

I'd like to know, what's a piffin screw?
A Piffin screw can be many things:
(1) What you do to increase the Piffin population or
(2) what you get if you don't follow Piffin's advice or
(3) What you get if you follow his advice or
(4)a non-structural screw used for a structural purpose
LOLBTW, did the OP ever get his answer before the Pifcultists hijacked his thread?

Does anyone still use Hilti (expansion) bolts anymore, or am I showing my age?
I've used them on just about every possible angle, at various diameters, and never had a problem. Mind you, it's usually in poured concrete, not CMUs.

This is a screw that I have used on cabinets and it works good cause the head is small.
Pre-drill the masonry thru the cabinet and use the instructions to calculate the load you want to carry with the cabinets=s how many to use.
Available in multi lengths and available at the orange box.
