Hanging chinup bar from ceiling joists
Hi….I am thinking about hanging a chinup bar in my daughters room by simply putting a large eye screw into two adjacent ceiling joists, then hanging a chain with bar from them. Do i need to worry about twisting, etc between the members that may lead to ceiling sheetrock damage? I have access, so I may also tie the two joists together with 2×6 blocking in attic….Comments about this idea would be appreciated…. She currently weighs about 125lbs…..thanks,stitch

A lot depends on the size and span of the ceiling joists. You may or may not have problems.
At the least, I would suggest putting together a "header" in the attic that will spread the weight over several members. Then use long bolts that run through the header and down through the ceiling.
Avoid lag bolts - the movement from the chinups will probably pull them loose eventually.
I like to pick up hitchhikers. When they get in the car I say, "Put on your seat belt. I want to try something. I saw it once in a cartoon, andt I think I can do it."
Ditto on Boss Hog's suggestion. Also, the closer to a bearing wall that you locate it, the less likely bending in the joist.

Good advice above. I did almost exactly what you have in mind when I was 15 years old. I hung the chinnig bar with lag bolts (eye type) and chains from the 2 x 6 rafters of my parents garage. I weighted 140 lbs. at the time and that bar got a lot of use. It is still there today and as sound as the day I put it up. I am 55, so I doubt that your daughter is going to do a lot of damage to your home in the next 40 years.
Go for it
