Customer wants me to hang a french door between the front hall and the living room. I’m familiar with the order to nail in the uprights and header for a single door. Does it differ for French doors? In other words, do I start on one of the uprights, go to the top and then do the other upright? Or should I start at the top and work my way down the sides?
thanks

make sure to check your floor for level, and cut the bottom of the jambs accordingly. remove doors and stops. I usually set one jamb plumb, and then attach just the top of the opposite jamb. then, I put the doors back on their hinges, and set the rest of the opposite jamb so that all my gaps between doors and jambs are even, and the doors line up. When I set the jambs, I use countersunk screws (hidden by the door stop) so that I can remove them and fine tune my shims if necessary. When it looks good, set the top so that you have an even reveal there as well. put the stops back on.
anyone have anything to add?
