Hardboard (Masonite) webbed box beams
Does anyone know of a source of information on building box beams using hardboard for webs? I’ve looked on the APA site without luck (just info on plywood and OSB webs). There is a company in Europe which makes I-Beams with hardboard webs, but I haven’t seen anything on box beams.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Masonite box beams
I have never ever seen and or heard of "Masonite" being considered a structural material. Of couse, now that I think about it, that don't mean a hell of a lot.
What does the manufacture say? Do they have specs giving the fiber bending, shear, compression, etc. values?
Well, of course "Masonite",
Well, of course "Masonite", as a material, doesn't exist any more. But tempered hardboard is a fine structural material -- far superior to OSB, for instance, for a given weight/thickness.
