I’m finishing up the sheathing on our kitchen addition and I’m wondering if I could get a little more insulation in there. The original sheathing was 7/8″ diagonal 1×10, rosin paper, 7/8″ vertical lath 16 O.C. Then chicken wire over the whole thing with 3 coat pebble-dash stucco. The addition has 2 layers of 1/2 plywood now, but I don’t know about the wisdom of installing the furring strips again. 3/4″ of foam would get me to same point, anyone out there ever do traditional stucco over foam?

I don't see any problem, but you should tack in 1/4" PT firring strips before you put up the wire mesh for the stucco. Either that or get self firring wire lath.
