I am back to my debate on installing fibercement siding over SIP’s. The previous advice I received here was to install nailer strips, maybe 3/4″ x 2″ every foot and attach the siding blind nailed to them (rainscreen). This still seems like good advice, but I called Hardi and was told to install 2 x 2’s as nailers. However, this will surely screw up my windows, which are already installed. I don’t know what to do. I wanted to blind nail; if I face nail, will I be able to see face nails under paint?. They said I could face nail without any nailer strips, every 12″ oc.

Sorry to reply to my own question, but what about the screws made for Fiber cement siding? I did a web search and found a page by Certainteed which specified these for blind applications over SIP's with no nailers (this page does not appear on the regular Certainteed site). Any ideas?

thats what I'd do..30lb felt, and trim screws..blind. A few ss nails in the face only if needed.
