Few people understand it. Nobody agrees what it is, how to learn about it, or who's responsible for it. It has never been more important

Fur out with wood and tapcons, then the Hardipanel.
Dave,
Thank you for the suggestion. I was hoping to find a way to stay within the thickness of the Hardi and not add an additional 3/4 to the wall surface. We have come up with a different solution though.

So... what is it?
Oops, sorry to keep you waiting. The main purpose for considering Hardi was to hide the rough cut brick edges of the new door opening. This is a steel door and steel frame. I thought that instead of trimming around the door I could simply slip Hardi behind the steel lip all around the frame and glue to the brick.
But, instead, I will case the door with 5/4 PVC stock; glued and screwed with flush mount TapCons. I am using 5/4 stock instead of 3/4 so that once the screw is counter sunk slightly into the PVC there will still be some material under the screw head.
