I’m installing 1,500 sq. ft. of prefinished 3/4″ hardwood floor in a new house. There are a couple of internal walls that will be surrounded by the floor (i.e. rooms with 2 doorways), and a large kitchen island that will be surrounded by the floor. The island is already constructed. Any suggestions for insuring that the lines of the floor will remain parallel when working around the walls and island? Other than just starting on one end and hoping for the best when you lay the floor on both sides and get to the other end?

Imagine where the most visual focus will be in the room and I'd probably pull measurements to line up there. Snapping chalk reference lines should get you through it, take a little time and it will come out just how you want.
