I am looking at a job putting down Cypress flooring (3/4 x5 T&G).
The existing floor is 3/4 particleboard.
Do I attempt to nail into this underlayment or will the fasteners crater out and be useless?

remove PB
install ply to get at least 3/4 in subfloor
then you should be good to go.
