Righty oh , as I’ve explained I work in a small firm in Australia . Now Aussie hard woods are horribly unstable things ,I’ve been playing with for years .Now the architects here have taking a liking to using tgn’v as an exterior clading [ like flooring as clap board] .You can imagine in a country that has very long periods of drought and now thanks to climate change long spells of rain , problem is timber being hydroscopic you get the picture . The timber is called Spotted Gum it’s raidial expansion is about 3.7 percent . That’s 3.7 mm in every 100mm translation 1/8” in every 4” add that up over forty boards .I think I’ve got it sussed but let’s see what you guys and girls can come up with . Thanks Dubb

Grain orientation is everything for most species' boards. You also need to account for the mc of your lumber when you install, in relation to it's predicted mc extremes. Lumber stability is predicted by tangential and radial movement: T/R.
Tangential movement could easily be twice radial. Pretty sure you need more information unless your boards are all sawn perfectly.
This is going to be interesting. Are you the one taking full responsibility?

I uderstand mc and enviroment very well ,I'm unable to say much now it's another message speak soon
Tgn'v? Is that tongue & groove? Might work better whith a half-lap joint cut wide enough to allow for maximum exp-ansion.

Yeah I know someone has sold an interior profile idea to an Architect as an exterior clading not very cool or smart
This might be the time when you talk with the archy about form vs function. Work with him to get the desired look, but with proper building methods. Maybe he doesn't realize the problems he is creating."Put your creed in your deed." Emerson
