Please help…..
On the back of a house, I am planning to open the wall to the (minimally sloped roof) addition. There is to be a series of 3 – 7′ openings. The loading is the roof load and a addition roof “tie in”. The house is in northern VA so the snow loading is “light”.
The opening will be supported by the 2 exterior wall jack studs and 2 jack posts. I expect to use jack posts made of 4 – 2X6’s that are glued and nailed. As for the header, I will use 3 2X8’s nailed and glued if recommended.
Can anyone out there tell me if this is reasonable or nuts for this sizing?
