I am a home owner who wishes he knew how to build a house. That aside I am concerned about the negative pressure when the Heating/AC unit is running. The closet is centrally located on the first floor of a single story house. There is a cavity under the unit that is the return air path. I have negative pressure with all the doors in the house open. ( only one bedroom has a return air duct.
I think the problem is the air filter. It is located at the base of the unit. ( all the duct work is in the attic ) When I bought the house, the air filter was a metal wire mesh ( reusable ). I replaced it with pleated filters. Currently the fan pulls air through the filter. I believe that the restriced flow caused by the filter is creating the negative pressure. If I am correct, the fan should push the air through the filter?????????
But the system does not have any other place to install the filter. I am not sure that the location of the filter is a valid place to install a filter.
Thanks for any and all help.
