I’m designing my second house, having built one about 20 yrs ago.
I’m looking for info/resources on the “roof sandwich” i should use here in Eugene Oregon.
Part of the house will have viisble timbers/rafters, part will not.
All will be clad in steel roofing. None will have “attic.” Must be at least R 30 and I will not use batting — rigid insulation.
Most daunting to me is figuring out how to figure out whether and how to vent the roof — or is that not nec when I don’t have closed in rafter area?
Replies
Use 6" stress-skin panels above the roof framing. No need to vent.

Do some research into how companies such as https://e-kingspan.lv and others build boxes. They are using an industry standard 40mm or 60mm thick panel, likely built in-house or by a partner. Panels are joined using adhesives so strong that the panel will fail before the adhesive does.
