Help! Can’t find article on accordion/folding door hardware
In the last couple of years there was an FHB article where the builder installed his own accordion door system using stock French doors and specialty hinge hardware. All my FHB magazines are on the bottom row of boxes in a storage unit right now, and I cannot find this article searching on finehomebuilding.com. Does anyone know the name of this article or which issue it was in??

You should buy the online archive, it really is a great resource.
I do have the online access and wasn't able to find it. I was able to find the article in Issue 163 - that's not the one (but thanks). It was within the last couple of years. I wish there was a issue cover archive because I probably would recognize it. The application was an exterior folding door system and they had looked at the commercial versions like Nanawall and rejecting them out of cost.

What is your application? interior folding partition or exterior door system?
Hey Perkerk,
Check out the article, "Designed for Density" in issue #218. The piece was written by Donna Wax.

They utilized Eclipse Architectural Hardware and seven glazed Simpson doors to create the huge 21-ft. folding door in this house.
Here is a link to the Eclipse site: http://www.eclipsearchitectural.com/index.php
According to the architect, they saved roughly 50% on costs with this set up when compared to the other options on the market.
If you're considering a complete product, I've heard good things about La Cantina doors. They are supposed to be relatively reasonable ($$) option as well. http://www.lacantinadoors.com/
If you opt for the Eclipse hardware, let us know how the install goes.
Good luck,

Rob, that's the one - thanks! I think I will try it out in the next house.
