Hi,
I need to replace a rotted out window sill. It on a closed in porch and the water intrusion as come at the corn mitre joint where the side meets the front. What should I replace the sill with? It’s presently 2×6, not sure what type of wood but looks intact at other spots. This wood is probably about 40 -50 years old. I was going to replace it with PT but after looking at it a Lowes it looked unsuitable, knots and damp. All advice appreciated.

will it be painted? if so, knots won't matter, and the wettness of the PT will dry up.

I keep a few chunks of well-aged clear redwood in the garage for just such fixes.
a lumber yard will stock pre made sill, problem i think is it's finger jointed. but thats what its for . last one i did i started with a 2x 8 piece of cedar and went from there. redwood would be lots better if you can lay your hands on some. larry
